Kids change fast — and their headshots should grow

Kids change fast — and their headshots should grow with them. ✨

For young actors, I recommend updating headshots about once a year, or at least every two years, so casting directors are always seeing an accurate reflection of who they are now.

Here are a few fun shots of the talented Athena, photographed a few years ago and again more recently.

So fun to see how much she has grown while that spark and personality are still unmistakably hers.

Athena is represented by @inside_nichemodelsandtalent✨

I don’t think I’ll ever tire of creating portraits. Capturing expressions and emotions is so interesting to me. Working with someone to create a portrait is its own special kind of intimate communication. #soullightportrait #soullightexperiences @soullightexperiences

28 years married today. ❤️

On June 13, 1998, Tom and I got married in Boston, Massachusetts, in a very small, intimate wedding at an amazing Italian restaurant in the North End.

It also happened to be a record-breaking rain day in Boston, so we didn’t get many outdoor wedding photos. When we came back to Hawai‘i, I realized two things: we needed more photos, and I still wanted to wear a veil.

So I made myself a DIY wedding veil, and a friend took us outside in the bright, hot sun and wind in front of Diamond Head. These photos were imperfectly perfect — just the way I like them.

Over time, the original prints degraded badly. They were from that early transition era between film and digital, before archival printing was what it is today. So I restored them from some very rough iPhone scans using Photoshop and a few AI tools.

And here they are — three of my favorite memory photos.

Happy 28th anniversary to my best friend, my partner, Tom, and the person who still makes me laugh. I feel so happy and so lucky.

I truly believe a sense of humor is one of the great secrets to making love last. ❤️
